Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started with individual or family therapy?

If you are interested in counseling for yourself, your child, or your family you can contact Melissa at (708)334-9005. With an office conveniently located in Flossmoor, Illinois, you can speak to Melissa about the reason you are seeking services and usually set an appointment within1 week of your phone call.

How much does therapy cost?

First you should check with your insurance company to see if you have mental health coverage. Most insurance plans do and Melissa is a provider within most of the major plans. Co-pays or co-insurances vary but typically range between $10 and $30 dollars per visit and are due at the time of your visit. An assessment, or the initial visit, costs $125 and all subsequent sessions are $100 per visit. If you have not met your deductible you will be responsible to pay for the entire session until your deductible has been met.

You may also wish to not go through your insurance company and self-pay instead. If you choose to be a self-paying client, you will be expected to pay for the assessment and all other sessions at the time of your visit. Forms of payment are check or cash only.

Are there advantages to being a self-paying client?

The advantage to being a self-paying client is not having the hassles of dealing with insurance companies. You may find that your coverage limits the number of sessions you have or the kind of sessions you have (individual or family.) Although the out of pocket cost is more, you have the freedom of determining how long you would like to receive counseling without receiving a mental health diagnosis.

Clients who do choose to go through their insurance must note that in order for your insurance to cover the cost, a mental health diagnosis must be given. Some people are uncomfortable with the idea of receiving a mental health diagnosis. Each person must weigh the pros and cons and make the choice that is best for them or their child.

What type of service can I receive online?

The types of services you may receive on-line are Life Coaching, Parent Coaching and Focus and Motivational Support for athletes. All three can also be provided face to face but if your schedule or location prohibits you from meeting face to face, on-line coaching can be a convenient option. It is important to note that on-line coaching and support are not counseling services and should not be utilized as such. If you are seeking on-line Life Coaching, Parent Coaching or Focus and Motivational Support you must first qualify by completing a screening form available on-line. Some personal and identifying information must also be given to help assess if on-line services are appropriate. On-line Coaching is provided through a secure website. Persons receiving on-line services must be over the age of 18.

How do online services work and how do I start?

If you decide that you want to try on-line services you begin by completing the screening form. Once completed you select the submit button and the form is sent directly to Melissa. Once received Melissa will review and send back an e-mail indicating if you have been accepted for on-line services or not. Please allow 48 hours for your response. If you are not accepted for on-line services Melissa will include a brief reason and the process is over. If you are accepted for on-line services the next step is to select whether you want one e-mail interaction or one of the packages. Once you decide, you must purchase your selection prior to any further interaction with Melissa. An e-mail interaction is one e-mail from you and one response from Melissa. Please remember to be as thorough and thoughtful in describing your question or situation as possible. The more information you can provide the better able Melissa will be in responding to you. With each interaction, please allow 48 hours for a response.

What do online services cost?

Once accepted for on-line services, you can purchase one e-mail interaction or one of the packages. You may want to purchase one interaction to start and see if any further interactions are needed. If you feel more are needed you can purchase them one interaction at a time or by packages. An e-mail interaction is considered one e-mail from you and a response from Melissa. One interaction is $50 keeping in mind that with each interaction Melissa will spend a minimum of thirty minutes reading and composing a response. A three interaction package costs $112.50 and a five interaction package costs $187.50. By purchasing a package you save 25%. Each interaction must be paid in advance through PayPal . If you are seeking face to face Life Coaching, Parent Coaching or Focus and Motivational Support services, the minimum length of a session is 45 minutes with the cost being $50. If you wish to meet for longer periods of time face to face, the cost increases $15 for every 1-15 minute increment after that.

What is the difference between receiving Coaching Services on-line and Coaching Services conducted face to face?

The only difference is convenience. Today with so many personal and professional demands, time constraints can often limit a person’s ability to seek support. On-line Coaching can offer persons a means of connecting with someone for guidance without having to travel to an office or needing to find childcare services. If you have a computer, internet access, and are comfortable navigating on the computer, on-line Coaching may be the way to go. If you prefer to meet face to face you may contact Melissa at (708) 334-9005 to set up an appointment.
